The University of Swat is a public sector university established for providing higher education to the people of Swat Valley specifically and the whole region. The main campus of the university is situated in Saidu Sharif, 2 km away from the main city Mingora, Swat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan. On 29 May 2010 the establishment of the University of Swat was announced by the Prime minister of Pakistan during his visit to Swat valley. The university came into formal existence in July 2010 by the order of the Honorable Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The university started with 07 disciplines and 272 students in the beginning which has been extended to 22 teaching departments with 49 academic programs including 02 sub-campuses where more than 3000 students. 


In its first academic session, 2010–11 the university opened seven departments. In 2011/12 disciplines of Software Engineering and four more departments of Zoology, Microbiology and Environmental Sciences were introduced. Now, the university has multiple departments with 3500+ students and 3 campuses. 




Kohat University of Science and Technology 


Kohat University of Science and Technology is a public university located at Kohat District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which was established in 2001. 

The university was founded with four institutes - Institute of Information Technology, Institute of Management Sciences, Institute of Education and Research, and Department of Microbiology.

These offered two-year and four-year bachelor degrees and two-year master degrees in 2004. Later on, the university was expanded by establishing departments in physics, chemistry, botany, and zoology.




The main faculties of the university are Languages and Literature, Physical and numerical sciences, Management and social sciences, Religious and Legal studies, Chemical sciences and Life sciences.
